It was exhilarating, the first time I saw the amount of traffic coming into my site and I wasn't paying a penny. All my pay per click adverts had been cancelled or paused; basically I was spending nothing (well apart from the monthly cost of hosting). All my free traffic memberships had been pulled due to non-targeted traffic and stats that no longer meant anything. At last I seemed to have cracked the code of getting the results coming in from organic hits; well ok I had quite a bit of help from various bits of software. Below I will outline the techniques I used and continue to use today.
So hold on it’s time you learn to fly by the seat your pants, because once done correctly you need to make sure you are ready for the rush…!
If you are serious about getting results for you and your business then building and maintaining a strong internet presence is something that is an absolute must these days.
But unfortunately getting a website up is only the beginning of the work.
That's right, websites won't look after themselves, and I learnt that the hard way on my first site passion8expressions.co.uk. I thought that just by having it up on the internet people would find it..! Oh how wrong I was… with no keywords per say, well certainly no thought gone into them, it never really took off
For starters, preferably before you even build you site, look at your product or service and think about what people will type in a search engine to find you product, the keywords that best describe it. Then have a look at this great FREE tool www.nichebot.com, type in your keywords and have a close look at the results; the aim, to find keywords with lots of searches but not much competition. Start by adding these to your homepage content, including them in to the main body text in a flowing conversational way.
Next include the selection of keywords in your Meta tags and titles and where possible re-name any images shown on your home page to have a keyword (e.g. canvas print 1)
Once the new website was up and running it was just a matter of generating quality traffic, and as I said earlier we binned pay per click pretty quickly due to spiraling costs. Then I came across this software called SEO Elite, it promised to get great results and to guide me through optimizing my own site and get those much sought after ORGANIC search positions...! Well, got started straight away and results are already flooding in. With no more paid per click campaigns, visitor numbers are at the same level they were when I was spending £200 per month...!
